For me its those nasty little gremlins in my head. The ones that say:

You can’t cope with that you may as well eat X
You have done really well you deserve a treat of X
    This is too hard
That was really horrible, have X to console yourself
You are all alone, no-one will know you may aswell have X

The more you stick to the plan though the easier it is to tell the gremlins they are wrong!

You have done one day so you can do another, do one gremlin!
You coped with that last bit of stress without food you can do it again, ha gremlin!
You have done really well so why would you want to spoil it with X, go away gremlin!
    etc.

So each time I have a tough day & survive the gremlin I am really happy because next time I know I can do it & so I can tell the gremlin to get lost straight away & with conviction.

I get better at telling my gremlin where to go because I have the knowledge and the experience of knowing I have done this before, I can do it again.

Good luck showing your gremlins the exit x

for me this is very true , once i got past the first week , i found it does get better as i recognise the difference between being genuinely hungry and ‘head’hungry or the boredom eating that i used to do .
i do have major tough days but now i can deal with them by getting busy , finding something to do , go for a walk , doing yoga .All of which i would never have dreamed of doing before NY .
i spent far to many years taking the ” easy ” option of excuses , denial and false acceptance of my weight until i had a lifestyle wake-up call and decided to stop the excuses and do something for myself to be healthier and so very much happier .xx

I usually agree with all the motivational statements, but actually, I disagree with this one.

I see where it’s coming from. And I totally agree with the second part – you DO ‘get better’. But actually, I find it DOES get easier – and it is ‘getting better’ that makes it easier. It is such a powerful, motivating feeling to be getting better – you feel more in control, like you’re taking charge, like you’re achieving something important. And that feeling alone – of a mindset that’s changed from being depressed and miserable about weight and somehow powerless, to feeling powerful and on a journey, is why it DOES get easier!

I would change the statement into “You get better, so it DOES get easier” :-)

Because every day I am a step closer to my future self having no regrets regarding weight related quality of life or health issues. My future self will be so thrilled I did this now. Xxx

I think this applies to not only weight loss but life in general, we all hit brick walls in our lives and the first reaction is “how am I going to get through this?”, “I cant cope”, but we always to survive and come through the other side and a bit stronger because I got better at dealing with it, as in dieting I find it the same, it applies all the way through the process, yes at times it does get easier but then the devil on your shoulder chips away and for me that’s when the easier part becomes a struggle of the mind but once I over come that I realise im getting better at negotiating with my little devil lol

I have been on the plan three weeks and what is getting better for me is that I have become so aware of how much I was eating and picking while I was preparing food. I have taking up baking which my kids are enjoying so much and not once have I licked a spoon or my finger. Since starting the newyou plan, my self control has just got better and better and I have become much more aware of my actions around myself. My self awareness has just got better and better.x

You get better…for me I also start to expect better from myself, to hold myself to a higher standard, I stop letting myself off the hook. All of those self sabotaging behaviours become unacceptable, not that they are not there waiting for me to allow them in, but as time continues (as it does)on the plan, the vigilance that I need to maintain becomes more of a reward than a deprivation!
