All of us can find the and nurture the capacity for positive feelings now, rather than waiting until some longed-for event occurs. If you focus for a moment, you can always find some place in you that feels good right now. Your task is to give the expanding positive feeling your full attention. When you do, you will find that it expands with your attention. Let yourself enjoy it as long as you possibly can.”

Yesterday I posted in the secret slimmers group about how a man shouted “hey fatso” at me as I was minding my own business. That really was 1 part of my day, less than 10% of my life and I could have gone either way…stuck money in the vending machines or keep on walking, head high. Which is exactly what I done! The rest of my day was great!!

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it, and so we are in charge of our attitudes. Take that idea forward and it means that I can no longer blame people places or things for what I put in my mouth, I get to look after myself by reacting to life by being 100%

I think I am definitely a comfort eater and in the past I have turned to food or comfort. This time on my weight loss journey I am putting my energy into my family life and getting fit instead. So yes agree with the statement 🙂 xxx

Some one said this to me when i was going through a traumatic relationship experience some years ago and it really changed my whole way of thinking and dealing with bad and good things that have happened since .
as far as my new you journey goes it means i take ownership of all my reactions but especially to stressful or emotional events and whereas in the past my reaction would have been to turn to food for comfort and release and then the indulgent self loathing for doing so , i now stop and think about my reaction in a more controlled way and enjoy the smugness that goes hand in hand with NOT turning to food or allowing any other influences to interfere with my journey ,its my journey and no-one else is going to have a say in how i do it ( apart from ss and ny support ! )the feelings i have today regarding my weight loss is one of pure joy and pride in myself for my achievement and that beats ”food ” anyday .

If you want something badly enough you have to work hard to make it happen. You can’t just sit back and expect everything to fall in to your lap without effort. I have wanted to lose weight for years, but I didn’t try hard enough and of course it didn’t happen. It was only this year with the pain in my hip getting worse that I realised that if I didn’t help myself no one else would. Also finding New You & Secret Slimmers has been the deciding factor that has helped me achieve my ambitions to finally lose the weight. I have lost nearly 6 stone already and have around 2 stone still to lose.

90% of how I react… We chose our own destiny. It’s easy to get lazy or distracted and put it down to ‘a bad day’ when in truth the bad day probably contributed to less than 10% of waking hours. No more turning to food for comfort, it’s just as rewarding playing football with my boys or enjoying the beautiful countryside that surrounds me 🙂 xx

This is so true!!! Me feeling happy/sad/bored/frustrated is the 10%, me choosing to deal with that by eating cheese, chocolate, crisps or ice cream until I feel like I am going to go pop is the 90%!!

Then I feel crummy that I can’t get into that shirt, or those trousers, so the cycle starts again…

But NO MORE!! My bundle is on it’s way, and I WILL look and feel fabulous by Christmas!! 🙂

Its so easy to blame other things in your life for gaining weight, but being in new you I have started to realise its how I deal with situations and circumstances that makes me put food in my mouth. Having lost 6.5 stone new you has given me confidence to say no when I feel like caving in. Its about having the courage to actually make good informed decisions and choices about my lifestyle and happiness, and see that I can take control of my eating habits.

This quote is applicable in all aspects of life. Our responses to things that happen define us as individuals. An individual can always change there response but they can’t always change what’s happened.

In the last two months I’ve gone through a number of changes… New job, husband starting his own business, my son turning one and my ‘attack on the fat’!!

Historically if something happened that I didn’t like, I would turn to food; if I walked past the cake section in work I would have to eat it… I was terrible with sweet things!!

Then a month ago I decided, enough is enough!! I did a lot of research in to new you and other plans. I thought long and hard about making the decision to do TFR. To make a positive statement, to celebrate life and become a healthier me. New you provided the best support for this. After two weeks of deliberation I decided that I couldn’t wait to start!!

Two weeks in and it’s positivity all the way… Positive steps have helped me deal with issues in other areas of my life too… So I owe a massive thanks to New You…. Xx

I believe our life is what we make of it, what we want in our lives, emotions, family, love etc. But we expect these things easy and we need to understand nothing good comes easy. We get lazy, or expect others to do things for us. Thats why i believe we dont react to lifes needs enough, we sit and wait for good to come, instead of bringing them.
